Burn Ban Issued Due To Extended Dry Period

In the interest of public safety, the City of Spring Hill is currently not allowing open burning within the city limits until a substantial amount of rain has fallen.

More than 25 brush fires were reported and extinguished by local fire departments between Saturday, Oct 8, and Sunday, Oct. 9, in all of Maury and Williamson counties, said Spring Hill Fire Chief Terry Hood.

“We are currently experiencing very dry conditions with lower humidity and higher winds, making for prime conditions for a brush fire to get out of hand,” Hood said. “For instance, the grass fire we had on Saturday on Saturn Parkway (S.R. 396), the wind was pushing the fire as fast as you could fight it. It can be very dangerous with the current conditions.”
