Wiggles & Giggles
Drop your child off in the gym on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for our free Wiggles & Giggles supervised play time. Parent must stay in the rec center and use the facility. For children ages 3 to 6. Wiggles & Giggles is free with a family pass or general admission.
Miss Deb returns in April with Deb’z Doodles for ages 7 and older. Meets Thursdays, April 6-27 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill. Kids learn basic drawing and then build onto their art using markers, colored pencils and watercolors. Deb’z Doodles is $40 for the four-week session. Register at www.wcparksandrec.com.
Kids ages 7 to 12 can enjoy supervised games in the gym every Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. during Rec-It. Drop-in and pay the youth general admission fee of $2 or use a family pass.
Mommy & Me Yoga
Connect with your child (age 2-5) and have fun together in Mommy (or Daddy) & Me Yoga, every Thursday at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill at 9:00 a.m. Drop in for a fun, 45-minute yoga class incorporating music, kid-friendly poses and imaginative breathing techniques. No reservation is needed, and the class is $8 per adult. Kids are free, and the class is free to adult premium pass holders.
This combination Judo/Karate class gives kids (age 8 and older) a well-rounded program of physical fitness and self-confidence. The ongoing Judo/karate class meets on Mondays, November 7-28 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ($30).
Learn to dance like the island natives of Hawaii, Samoa, New Zealand and Tahiti. Instructor Chris Hendrickson uses dance as a form of both exercise and education. Polynesian dance is an ongoing program on Wednesdays offering three class levels: beginners from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.; intermediates from 6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; and advanced students from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A monthly session is $25, and all ages are welcome.
Try woodcarving in this new class at the Longview Recreation Center. Master woodcarver Barry Vestal starts with the basics, providing training on tool safety, carving techniques and more. Class meets on Wednesdays from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come as often as you like, just register for each class ($10 per class, plus a one-time supply fee of $20 to instructor) at www.wcparksandrec.com.
