Bethesda Elementary School recently had a very interesting visitor. Mr. Mike Studer is a State Apiarist for the state ofξ Tennessee. Mr. Studer covers the entire state of Tennessee.

He is an expert on bees. He has amazing knowledge about bees and how their hard work is imperative to our planet. The word apiarist comes from the Latin word apis. The word apis means a bee. An Apiarist is a person who is a keeper of bees.

Ms. Jodi Johnson a fourth grade teacher at Bethesda invited Mr. Mike Studer to visit school to talk to her class about keeping the Honey bees healthy. He talked with the children about the bees and the many concerns for their safety. To be such a small insect, the honey bees make a large impact on the life of our planet. Students learned the honey Bee is one of nature’s hardest workers in the insect world.
